Throughout centuries, Budva has been the synonym for culture, free thinking and creativity, and cultural happenings in summer season have made this town one of main cultural centers in the country.

The town theater is one of events  which makes Budva recognizable in the area of former Yugoslavia and Europe, and it was set up to improve tourist offer.

Theater lovers, those who love concerts and literature events of well known and writers who are yet to be promoted, art and music, can enjoy in diverse programs starting from mid July and finishing by the end of September.

In mid June Music Festival »The Song of the Mediterranean« gathers many famous names from the world of music, who you can see during summer in tourism metropolis , and it lasts three nights at the Artist Square in front of the walls of the Old Town. In addition to competition of domestic and foreign competitors in Mediterranean and pop music, to entertain public world famous names are presented from the world of music and fashion.

The public institution »Museum, Galleries and the Library« from Budva is the most important one among cultural institutions. It deals with museums, galleries, exhibits and libraries. Also, it organizes literature events and round tables promoting literature medium and initiating  important cultural issues. This institution also has a curator and restoration service as well as service for protection of  monuments. At the memorial house »Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša«, a traditional event is organized » Days of Stefan Mitrov Lubiša« (on 27th and 28th February) as part of which there are symposiums every four years with international participation devoted to life and work of this distinguished writer of ours. As part of the Institution there is a publisher »Mediteran«-Budva.

Back in  1983 a music group was founded »Harmony« whichis active even today. In 1994 »Harmony « recorded a album »The sea of love«.

Town music started in  1906 and it is even today the main event of the town of Budva. Two important institutions are TV Budva and Radio Budva.

Cultural monuments (churches, monasteries, fortresses...) are witnesses of the past of this area. One of the most important legal-historical regulations in Montenegro is the Articles of Association of the town of Budva from the Middle Ages.
